I am a dad by choice, newspaperman by chance, activist by necessity, and artist by escape.

As a lad, comics and pop culture offered me a valuable escape from my daily norm, so drawing was the next logical step.  I was sucked into the bright colors, bold lines, and the pulpy action and humor comics offered.  I loved being able to see the reactions of the characters, absorbing the history, and chasing the next great artist whenever they came on the scene.  The weekly trip to the comic shop became sacrosanct for a time, always chasing that next fix.

I used to craft my own comics in those moments at school where you need to hide for a minute, stolen in class or tucked away in a corner during lunch.  For a lonely kid trying to find his way, this escape was clutch.  Most of my work never made it out of the folder I tucked it away into, pages of comic strips, character concepts, political cartoons, or the occasional vent. I tolled away with dreams of making this escape a living.

Alas, riches found in art was not my path, just an escape for me is all I need.  My work seeks to reconnect with those comics and the pop culture of my youth.  The escape it offers me now is one of memory, celebration, study, and zen in the process.  I push something to social media every now and then, but thought I should have a little art spot on the internet; it seems a shame to keep hiding things in a file folder. More work to come. Thanks for stopping by!
